Semen Gresik Donates Hundreds of Blood Bags through Blood Donation Events to Celebrate OHS Month

Rembang, February 9, 2022 - PT Semen Gresik (PTSG) collaborated with the Indonesian Red Cross Society (PMI) of Rembang Regency and the OASE Community to raise social awareness by holding a blood donation event to celebrate National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Month.

The event was attended by 105 donors from organic employees and PTSG partners and held at the Batu Kapur Building in Rembang Factory on Tuesday (8/2).

The Head of Communication and CSR Unit, Dharma Sunyata, explained that the blood donation activity conducted to celebrate the Occupational Health and Safety Month (OHS) in 2022 is a tangible way for the company to support PMI's blood transfusion unit and raise a sense of social concern for others.

"Blood donation is both a humanitarian act and a real contribution to society. This activity also aims to facilitate employees who wish to donate blood without visiting the PMI's office," said Sunyata in a press release on Wednesday (9/2).

He added that this activity was initiated by the OASE Community, a group of Semen Gresik employees engaged in social activities. The community, established at the end of 2019, regularly organizes blood donation programs.

He continued that the PTSG blood donation event is held every three months. Besides, it was the first blood donation event in 2022.

"We are grateful that this event has succeeded in raising the employees' awareness to donate blood. Many employees who had never contributed before have tried to do it," he noted.

According to Sunyata, OASE was proactive in conducting blood donation events since they perceived Rembang as having a lower need for blood bags than the surrounding districts. As a result, the initiative was realized to assist PMI in increasing the number of blood bags donated to PMI Rembang each year.

"I received a great response shortly after publishing it through flyers, e-mail, and WhatsApp group. More than 100 blood bags are ready to be donated to PMI as a result of this activity," he stated.

On the other hand, PMI Rembang representative, Ervin Nur Cahyanti, expressed her gratitude to PTSG for regularly holding blood donations events every three months. She added that blood donation benefits one's health, gives others' life hope, and helps PMI Rembang restock its blood supply.

"This event ran smoothly and in accordance with health protocols, especially the queues since the registration was performed online to avoid crowds," Sunyata concluded.
